Automobile Recalls
Automobile
recalls are always been a hot topic and why not, it has to
be because the safety of the vehicle means the safety of the
driver and the passengers. Whenever an auto maker publishes
the automobile recall it becomes a major concern for all the
owners of that specific car model. But yes definitely it’s
good to get the defect rectified before it can cause severe
damages. However, it’s not always that the auto maker issues
the automobile recall as it definitely devalues their
reputation and of course they consider money more important
than human life. Thus it’s on the part of the car owner or
driver that whenever they feel that the car has some
manufacturing defect and can cause severe situations for
driver if not identified at first place (obviously the
driver would not be unaware of it), they must contact Defect
Investigation cell or any recall groups that their specific
country may have to get the issue properly investigated,
documented and published so that the others owning the same
car model and make may know it well before time to provide
proper maintenance to their cars.
Not any one car
manufacturer has the auto recalls, even the big names are in
the list. If you see the history of auto recalls you will
find big names too. There could be any defect which is
reported and the automotive recalls are issued; some of the
auto makers are responsible enough to recall the cars before
any mishap take place whereas some only do so after some of
the people are killed in car crash due to that defect.
Defect can be of any nature and intensity ranging from low
to medium to high. For example, engine mounts, defective
ignition switches, corroding tailgate cables and loose
suspension bolts etc. Whatever the intensity of the defect
may be, it can cause serious accidents as bad luck never
comes after informing thus there is a need to take
precautions rather than repenting after the loss. For
example, the defect of loose floor mats may sound too small
but due to their loose nature they can cause the accelerator
to get pushed too abrupt that it may easily cause an
accident so never think any problem too small, as it can
cause serious after-effects.
For all car owners
it is advisable to keep themselves updated with the
automobile recalls that are published from time to time.
They can get information in automobile journals or magazines
or it can also be obtained online from the databases of
NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) or
ODI (Office of Defects Investigation). These organizations
publish official defect reports which contain all the
information about the defects of a particular car model and
make. You can add the information of your car and get the
detailed explanation of the defect and the solution which
the manufacturer gives for that issue as it is better to be
informed than to lose a precious life due to unawareness.
